Philly Create 5: Denim Edition
The largest photographer/model meetup in Philly returns for its fifth installment on April 27, 2019. This time we are incorporating the denim theme into the event to commermerate 2019 Denim Day and add an additional layer to the creativity. Come out on and start collaborating with new friends, creating new ideas and connecting to support Denim Day. Join us and connect, collab and create.
We will be starting at the Rodin Museum on the Ben Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia at 4pm.
What is Denim Day?
National Denim Day began as a protest in Italy. In 1992, Italian courts sentenced a 45-year-old man to jail for the rape of an 18-year-old girl. The accused appealed the conviction. His appeal went to the Italian Supreme Court, where they overturned the conviction and ruled in favor of his release. In a statement addressing the decision, the Italian Supreme Court said, "She had to help him remove them [jeans], and by removing the jeans it was no longer rape but consensual sex."
The response caused some members of the Italian Parliament to react in protest, with members choosing to wear jeans to work, The New York Times reported. The Parliament protest eventually inspired an international day of recognition, and in 1999, Peace Over Violence held the first Denim Day.
This year we are hosting our own Philly Denim Day and connecting the Philadelphia creative community and creating for a cause.

What is Philly Create?
A Philadelphia based creative meet up.
Philly is a city full of creatives; if we were to bring all of this creative energy into one space, what kind of amazing art would we end up with as a result?
This is the question that lead to Philly Create, a creative free-for-all that allows models, photographers, stylists, artists and more to connect and collaborate with one another.
Creatives of all skill levels are invited to attend this interactive networking event. Photographers and models are encouraged to explore the surrounding area to capture the best shots possible, with stylists and artists providing some of the clothing and artwork to compliment the visuals.
Featuring some of the most talented models and photographers in the Philadelphia area, the goal with this event is to reintroduce the idea of collaboration to the creative community in Philadelphia.
Philly is for creatives; let's show the world how we create.
